Sports

Throughout its early beginnings, Garsonites were very active in both winter and summer sports.  This interest escalated when INCO, like other mining giants, encouraged the development of leagues and competition by importing players to work at the mine and play on their sports teams.

Although hockey, baseball, and soccer were among the fan favourites, badminton also managed to grow in popularity to become a beloved pastime for many.

While men were reaching towards glory, women were also making their mark in the sports community, playing not only hockey, but also softball.
