Capreol's first movie theatre, the Imperial Theatre, was built in 1923 by Henry Plexman and his family.  The movie house showcased silent pictures and was a popular recreational outlet for the town.  Upon his retirement, Mr. Plexman's children took turns managing the theatre, but it eventually closed in 1938.

In 1943, the theatre was reopened as the Audion Theatre.  It was managed by Jean Bilsborough (Plexman) and her husband until their retirement in 1972.  Throughout its existence, various religious denominations held masses in the theatre during church construction and renovations.

Today, the Capreol Pro Hardware is located on the site where the theatre used to stand.
